Old buildings have such character and beauty. Many times they have a story to tell about the past. It could be of good times or bad times or something special about the people and the times they have known. Maybe it's an oil stain on the floor or some initials carved in an old wooden beam. Whatever the reason people love to take photos of old buildings. Old barn in Clay County, Indiana Click photo to go to the Clay County Gallery

Located in Parke County Indiana, "The Covered Bridge Capital of the World". Parke county boasts 32 historic bridges and hosts a covered bridge festival each year in October.

People may photograph old buildings for several different reasons and it is good that they do. Their photos could be taken for artistic value or simply just a remembrance of times past. Whatever the reason it is good to have these monuments made by men preserved in photos and shared by us all. Each and every photo of a building or structure was taken for some reason and in itself entitles that structure to a place in history.

The painted barn sidingOld barn advertising in Lawrence County Indiana Click photo to go to Lawrence County Gallery here represents a time past. Many barns that were close to roadsides were painted with a familiar advertising. These barns are hard to find today and are becoming a thing of the past. This barn still stands along the east side of SR 37 in southern Lawrence County, Indiana.

Mitchell, Indiana has several buildings and structures that are worthy of a picture or two. Many people, old and young alike have a fond memory of the Old Village. Shown here is the entrance to the gardens in the Village. I am not sure as to the date of when the arches were built but the stones appear to have been cut many years ago.
